Hyderabad to host the 16th K Balagopal memorial meet on Oct 12. Yogendra Yadav and other noted speakers to discuss democracy, Adivasi rights, and digital freedom.

Hyderabad: The Human Rights Forum has announced the 16th memorial meeting for K Balagopal, the late rights activist and thinker, to be held on October 12, 2025, at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram, Bagh Lingampally.

This year’s program will feature Yogendra Yadav, political activist and national convener of Bharat Jodo Abhiyaan, who will speak on “Challenges to the Architecture of Electoral Democracy.” The event aims to reflect on pressing questions of representation and citizen rights in today’s India.

Other highlights include a talk by Prof. Nandini Sundar of Delhi University on “Whose Bastar? The Struggle for Adivasi Futures,” a session by Apar Gupta from the Internet Freedom Foundation on “AI and Privacy,” and a presentation by PS Ajay Kumar of AILAJ exploring “New Forms of Land Theft.” The day-long gathering will also showcase a short film on Palestine and release Balagopal’s Telugu book “Rajyanganni Ela Chudali?”

Analysis: Memorials like these are not just commemorations but living spaces of dialogue. In Telangana, where debates on land, rights, and governance remain urgent, such forums connect global struggles—like digital privacy and Adivasi rights—to local realities. For students, activists, and concerned citizens, it is both an educational and mobilising opportunity.

The event runs from 10 am to 5 pm and is open to the public. Organisers have invited citizens, scholars, and activists to engage with Balagopal’s enduring legacy of justice and critical inquiry.
