VC Sajjanar appointed Hyderabad Police Commissioner, replacing CV Anand. Citizens hope experience will translate into accountability and people-centric policing.

The Telangana government has appointed senior IPS officer VC Sajjanar as the new Police Commissioner of Hyderabad. Until now, he was serving as Managing Director of TGSRTC. His predecessor, CV Anand, has been moved to the Home Department as Special Chief Secretary, while Y Nagi Reddy will now lead TGSRTC.

Sajjanar, a 1996-batch officer, brings decades of experience from multiple districts across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, where he held key postings in intelligence, anti-terror operations, and economic offences.

While his track record suggests strong administrative capability, Hyderabad’s policing challenges — cybercrime, urban law-and-order issues, and public trust — demand not just experience but also accountability. Leadership changes in law enforcement often reflect the political priorities of the government more than citizen needs. What matters most is whether this transition translates into better safety, transparency, and people-first policing, instead of being another reshuffle driven by politics.
