Tamil Nadu BJP to mark PM Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday with ‘Sewa Pakhwada 2025,’ featuring 75 service events, khadi promotion, cleanliness drives, marathons, and welfare initiatives from Sept 17–Oct 2.

Chennai: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu will roll out a fortnight-long service campaign, Sewa Pakhwada 2025, from September 17 to October 2, in celebration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday. The initiative will also coincide with the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.

According to A N S Prasad, state coordinator for Sewa Pakhwada, the campaign will feature 75 statewide events highlighting community service, sustainability, and self-reliance. The programme is being guided by state BJP president K Nainar Nagendran and campaign convenor Vinoj P Selvam.

Key focus areas include:

  • ‘Vocal for Local’ & Swadeshi push – Khadi promotions on Sept 17 and Oct 2, aimed at empowering artisans and boosting rural economy.

  • Cleanliness drives – A Swachhta Abhiyan at every booth from Sept 17.

  • Health initiatives – Blood donation camps (target: 75 units per district) and free check-up camps for the underprivileged.

  • Youth engagement – A Modi Vikas Marathon on Sept 21 in 75 cities, followed by sports festivals across Tamil Nadu through Dec–Jan.

  • Environmental drives – Tree plantations and the creation of ‘Namo Streets’ to promote sustainability.

  • Cultural & welfare programmes – Exhibitions on PM Modi’s life, film screenings, assistive device distribution, and awareness drives on sanitation and safe water.

BJP leaders said the campaign is both a tribute to PM Modi’s leadership and an opportunity to strengthen the party’s grassroots connect in Tamil Nadu ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. With Union ministers expected to participate, the party hopes to use the fortnight as a springboard for expanding its state presence.

Analysts note that beyond symbolic celebrations, this initiative could serve as a strategic mobilisation exercise, especially among youth and first-time voters.
