UAE and Telangana discuss collaboration at Davos to develop Bharat Future City, a net-zero smart city under the Telangana Rising 2047 vision.

The Telangana government and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to explore close cooperation in developing Bharat Future City, a proposed world-class urban and industrial hub. The discussions took place on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum 2026 in Davos, where A. Revanth Reddy met Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, UAE’s Minister of Economy and Tourism.

Leading the Telangana Rising delegation, the Chief Minister outlined the state’s long-term Telangana Rising 2047 roadmap, which aims to transform Telangana into a $3 trillion economy by 2047. Central to this vision is Bharat Future City, described as India’s first net-zero, greenfield smart city, planned over 30,000 acres.

Revanth Reddy said the project is being designed as a multi-sectoral ecosystem, with integrated zones for artificial intelligence, education, healthcare, manufacturing, residential spaces and entertainment. He added that several global players have already shown interest, and recent agreements—including an MoU with Reliance Group’s Vantara for a new zoo—reflect growing investor confidence.

Al Marri welcomed the proposal and expressed the UAE government’s willingness to partner with Telangana on large infrastructure initiatives. He suggested setting up a joint task force with officials from both sides to fast-track implementation and ensure coordinated execution. The UAE minister also proposed collaboration between the UAE’s food cluster and Telangana, aimed at strengthening rural and agriculture-linked economic activity.

Senior ministers, including Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, along with top officials, were part of the Telangana delegation at Davos.

The proposed partnership signals Telangana’s push to position itself as a global investment destination rather than a regional hub. UAE participation could bring capital, expertise and faster execution to Bharat Future City, particularly in sustainability-driven infrastructure. For Telangana, the collaboration also opens avenues to link urban growth with rural and agri-based development—an approach that could balance rapid industrialisation with inclusive economic gains.
