Telangana to Establish Women-Only MSME Parks in Every Constituency to Boost Entrepreneurship
Telangana will set up exclusive MSME parks for women across all Assembly constituencies to promote entrepreneurship and economic empowerment. Minister D. Sridhar Babu highlights women's role in achieving the state’s $3 trillion economy vision.
In a major push toward inclusive economic development, the Telangana government has announced plans to establish exclusive women-only MSME parks in every Assembly constituency. The initiative, unveiled by IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu at the WE-Enable Graduation Ceremony hosted by WE Hub in Hyderabad, aims to strengthen women’s participation in entrepreneurship as part of the state’s long-term growth strategy.
Babu stressed that true empowerment must begin at home and translate into meaningful involvement in economic and social sectors. Highlighting a positive shift in public mindset, he said women are increasingly seen as decision-makers and economic contributors in Telangana.
Official data shows Telangana leading in female workforce participation at 52.7%, well above the national average of 45.2%. The minister noted a rapid rise—from 22% in 2017–18 to 40.3% in 2023–24—attributing this growth to better access to opportunities and supportive policy measures.
He praised WE Hub’s role in nurturing startups led by women and said the upcoming WE Hub 2.0 will focus on building globally competitive enterprises. The government plans to develop an integrated ecosystem providing women access to technology, financial support, training, markets, and mentorship.
Analysis: This initiative could significantly increase economic independence for women in rural and urban areas, creating more local entrepreneurs and job creators. If implemented effectively, it may help reduce migration for work and boost constituency-level development. Encouraging women to move beyond traditional roles, Babu urged them to become employers rather than employees, contributing directly to Telangana’s economic growth goals.
