Telangana to Distribute ₹304 Cr Interest-Free Loans to SHG Women Tomorrow, Says Dy CM Bhatti
Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka announces distribution of ₹304 crore interest-free loans to 3.5 lakh SHG women on November 25; praises implementation of Indiramma saree scheme.
Telangana deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka announced on Monday that the state government will distribute ₹304 crore in interest-free loans to 3.5 lakh women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) on November 25. He said this comes after two to three earlier phases of loan disbursement, marking the latest effort to strengthen women’s financial independence across the state.
Speaking at a review meeting with district collectors, Bhatti directed chief secretary Ramakrishna Rao and SERP CEO Divya Devarajan to coordinate the program with ministers and MLAs to ensure smooth execution. He pointed out that the previous administration had discontinued the scheme, and the current government revived it to restore confidence among women beneficiaries.
The deputy CM also commended officials for the successful rollout of the Indiramma saree distribution programme, noting that women across districts appreciated the quality and design of the sarees provided.
Analysis: The loan disbursement, if executed efficiently, could significantly boost grassroots entrepreneurship and economic participation among rural women. Experts suggest that sustained follow-up, skill development and market linkages are essential to maximise the impact of such schemes. For now, the government appears focused on delivering quick results ahead of local body polls, using welfare-led outreach to gain traction among women voters.
