Telangana Rising Summit Begins, Showcasing Telangana’s $3 Trillion Economic Roadmap
Hyderabad: Telangana’s Bharat Future City played host to a global lineup of economists, scientists, CEOs and policymakers as the Telangana Rising Summit opened on Monday, signalling the state’s ambition to position itself as a major economic force in the coming decades.
The two-day summit features 27 thematic sessions covering sectors such as energy transition, semiconductor manufacturing, healthcare innovation, deep-tech, and emerging digital industries. Notable speakers include Nobel laureate Abhijit Banerjee, Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, along with senior leaders from Amazon, Goldman Sachs, and global consulting firms.
A key highlight will be Tuesday’s release of the Telangana Rising Vision 2047 Document, which outlines the state’s plan to become a $3 trillion economy with a focus on human capital development, productivity gains, and region-specific economic models spanning both urban and rural zones.
In the run-up to the summit, proposals surfaced suggesting Hyderabad roads be named after international figures such as Donald Trump and industry stalwart Ratan Tata—an attempt, organisers said, to highlight Hyderabad’s global aspirations. However, opposition leaders criticised the symbolism and urged the government to prioritise tangible investments in infrastructure, jobs and public services.
The summit’s scale reflects Telangana’s effort to project itself as a forward-thinking investment destination at a time when states are competing aggressively for global capital. If the Vision 2047 plan translates into actionable policy, experts say Telangana could emerge as a major innovation hub driving employment and advanced manufacturing. But the challenge lies in ensuring that growth strategies uplift rural and peri-urban regions, not just established tech corridors.
For now, the Telangana Rising Summit signals the state’s intent to stake a bold claim on India’s economic future.
