The Telangana Housing Board will auction unsold residential plots in Hyderabad and other districts from October 6 to boost revenue and fund development works.

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Housing Board (TSHB) has announced that public auctions of vacant residential plots will commence on October 6. The initiative, according to officials, is designed to make use of unsold land parcels while creating much-needed revenue for developmental activities.

Plots under Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits in localities such as Chintal, Nizampet, Bachupally, and Nampally will be up for bidding. Beyond Hyderabad, land parcels in Raviryala (Rangareddy), Sadashivpet (Sangareddy), Jogulamba Gadwal, and Nizamabad have also been included in the auction plan.

Authorities have confirmed that details regarding registration, auction schedules, and terms of participation will be released shortly through the Housing Board’s official website.

Analysis: The auction reflects Telangana’s growing reliance on real estate monetisation to fund public spending. While this creates opportunities for buyers and investors, local residents are likely to keep a close watch on whether the revenue generated actually translates into improved civic infrastructure. For potential buyers, officials advise early registration and thorough review of auction terms to avoid last-minute hurdles.
