Telangana CM seeks Centre’s support for ‘Young India’ schools
New Delhi: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday urged Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to permit the creation of a special corporation and relax FRBM limits to fund the construction of Young India Integrated Residential Schools.
Reddy said the state plans to build 105 schools—one in each Assembly constituency—with capacity for 2.7 lakh students. Four schools are under construction and tenders for the rest are finalised. The project cost is pegged at ₹21,000 crore, including ₹9,000 crore for modern labs and infrastructure in higher education institutions.
He also sought permission to restructure high-interest loans inherited from the previous government. Sitharaman responded positively to his requests, according to an official statement.
