Telangana government sanctions ₹12.99 crore for Cyclone Montha relief, including compensation for damaged homes, livestock loss, and ex gratia to victims’ families.

Telangana has sanctioned ₹12.99 crore in relief for those affected by Cyclone Montha, offering ₹15,000 each to 8,662 families whose homes were damaged across 15 districts. Hanamakonda and Warangal saw the highest impact. The state also announced ₹5 lakh ex gratia for families of the deceased and compensation for livestock losses — ₹50,000 for milch animals and ₹5,000 for smaller ones.

District collectors have been directed to restore basic infrastructure and submit detailed reports within a week. Officials confirmed that all payments will be made directly to beneficiaries through DBT to ensure transparency.

Analysis: The move reflects Telangana’s push for swift post-cyclone recovery while emphasizing accountability through digital transfers. However, timely distribution and follow-up rehabilitation will be key to ensuring that rural families rebuild their homes and livelihoods before the next monsoon season.
