Tejashwi Yadav Calls BJP “Pakistan’s Partner” Over Asia Cup Match
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav slammed the BJP-led government for allowing the India-Pakistan Asia Cup clash after the Pahalgam terror attack, calling it a matter of political convenience.
Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday lashed out at the BJP, accusing it of double standards over the India-Pakistan Asia Cup match in Dubai. Responding to reporters’ questions about the boycott calls following the Pahalgam terror attack, Yadav said the BJP was acting out of political convenience and described Pakistan as the party’s “partner”.
“This is a question that should be posed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had once bragged about vermilion flowing in his veins,” Yadav remarked. He accused the ruling party of using national security issues selectively, pointing out that the government had suspended the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan immediately after the terror strike that claimed over 20 lives, only to allow a cricket match against the same country weeks later.
According to Yadav, the BJP has a history of heightening tensions with Pakistan through military conflict and dramatic announcements, only to scale them down when it suits their political narrative. “Now, it has agreed to a cricket match, all as per its own convenience,” he said, suggesting that the government places its political calculations above the sacrifices of citizens.
