Tata Group Shows Interest in Musi Revival, Sports Infra in Telangana
During WEF Davos 2026, Tata Group held talks with CM Revanth Reddy on Musi river revival, stadium upgrades, tourism and advanced manufacturing in Telangana.
Telangana’s investment outreach at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026 in Davos gathered momentum after the Tata Group expressed interest in partnering with the state on key urban and infrastructure initiatives, including the Musi River rejuvenation and sports facilities.
A delegation led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy held discussions with Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran, where the state’s long-term development roadmap was presented. The Chief Minister sought the group’s support for upgrading stadium infrastructure in Hyderabad, with the aim of creating world-class sports venues. Chandrasekaran responded positively, indicating Tata Group’s willingness to support modernisation efforts.
The talks also focused on the Musi Riverfront project, with Revanth Reddy outlining plans to revive the river and stimulate economic activity around it. Chandrasekaran, referring to the group’s experience in water restoration projects in Rajasthan and Maharashtra, showed interest in exploring collaboration on the Musi revival.
Beyond urban infrastructure, the Tata Group discussed potential investments in tourism and hospitality, including hotels and resorts near major pilgrimage centres such as Medaram, Vemulawada and Bhadrachalam, as well as a proposed international-standard resort along the Srisailam road. The group also indicated interest in expanding its industrial footprint in Telangana through AI data centres, semiconductor facilities and electric vehicle manufacturing.
The meeting was attended by IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and senior state officials.
Tata Group’s interest adds weight to Telangana’s pitch for sustainable urban renewal combined with high-tech manufacturing. If these discussions translate into projects, they could reshape Hyderabad’s river ecology while boosting sports infrastructure and tourism-led employment. The challenge ahead will be aligning large-scale corporate participation with timely execution and environmental safeguards, especially in sensitive projects like the Musi rejuvenation.
