Supreme Court Rejects Malla Reddy’s Plea to Stop Jeedimetla Land Survey
The Supreme Court declines to stop the Jeedimetla land survey involving BRS MLA Malla Reddy, noting it was completed as per Telangana High Court orders.
The Supreme Court has declined to intervene in a land dispute involving BRS MLA Ch Malla Reddy and his family, refusing to halt a survey conducted in Jeedimetla village of Quthbullapur mandal in Medchal–Malkajgiri district.
A bench comprising Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and NV Anjaria observed on February 24 that the survey of the 1.29-acre parcel had already been completed in line with directions issued by the Telangana High Court. In view of this, the apex court said there was no ground to interfere at this stage.
The dispute pertains to competing ownership claims, including 33 guntas reportedly asserted by a software employee. Malla Reddy, along with his son Ch Mahender Reddy and son-in-law Marri Rajasekhar Reddywho represents Malkajgiri in the Assembly had opposed the survey, arguing that a civil dispute over title and possession remains pending.
Earlier, a single judge of the Telangana High Court permitted authorities to proceed with the land survey. A subsequent appeal before a division bench was dismissed on February 2, clearing the way for the exercise to continue. The family then moved the Supreme Court seeking to set aside the High Court’s orders and stop the process.
While refusing relief, the apex court granted the petitioners the liberty to challenge the survey proceedings separately if they believe the process violated provisions of the Survey and Settlement Act. With that observation, the matter was disposed of.
The ruling signals judicial reluctance to stall administrative actions once carried out under court supervision, even as parties retain the right to contest procedural lapses through appropriate legal channels.
