Congress candidate Naveen Yadav’s sharp criticism of AIMIM ahead of the Jubilee Hills bypoll has exposed tensions within the alliance, contradicting the party’s official stance.

Hyderabad: Tensions within the Congress–AIMIM understanding have surfaced just days before the Jubilee Hills by-election, after Congress candidate V. Naveen Yadav accused AIMIM of betrayal. His remarks have sparked fresh doubts about the stability of the informal alliance between the two parties.

In a viral video, Yadav was heard saying, “AIMIM has deceived us. Forget Jubilee Hills — people should forget AIMIM even in the new city.” The outburst, coming on the eve of the campaign launch, caught party leaders off guard and drew attention to growing cracks within the ranks.

His comments stand in direct contrast to Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud’s reassurance earlier this week that AIMIM remains a “friendly party” and that Congress is confident of a smooth win.

Naveen Yadav, who was recently named the Congress candidate after internal deliberations, also claimed that his family’s support was being sought by major political parties, including the Congress itself. “Just like AIMIM and TDP once approached us, the Congress too has asked for our support. We are here to serve the people,” he said.

Observers note that such public discord could undercut the Congress campaign narrative and give rival parties room to exploit divisions. For voters in Jubilee Hills, the controversy adds another layer of intrigue to what was expected to be a straightforward contest.
