Punjab floods toll rises to 52, crops on 1.91L hectares damaged

Chandigarh: The death toll in Punjab floods climbed to 52 on Tuesday, with one more death reported in Ludhiana. Three people remain missing in Pathankot, officials said.
Revenue Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian said 2,097 villages across 22 districts have been affected, and crops on nearly 1.92 lakh hectares damaged. Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Fazilka, Kapurthala and Patiala are among the worst-hit districts.
So far, 23,206 people have been evacuated, with 119 relief camps housing 5,521 residents. Over 3.8 lakh people have been impacted by the floods, triggered by swollen Sutlej, Beas, Ravi and heavy rains in catchment areas of Himachal Pradesh and J&K.
