Priyanka Gandhi Wins Hearts in Wayanad, Buys Toys for Anganwadi Kids
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra inaugurates a smart Anganwadi in Wayanad, interacts with children, buys them toys, and listens to residents’ concerns on basic facilities.
Wayanad: Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra turned her visit to Sulthan Bathery into a memorable day for children on Tuesday as she inaugurated the Varipra Smart Anganwadi in Ambalavayal Panchayat. Rather than limiting her presence to formalities, Priyanka sat with the children, asked them about their favourite toys, and later personally purchased the ones they mentioned from a local shop in Sulthan Bathery. The toys will now be delivered directly to the little ones a gesture that drew appreciation from parents and teachers alike.
Before leaving, she spent time playing with the children, distributed sweets, and even joined them in singing folk songs. Her stop at the Malabar Diocese of the Jacobite Syrian Church saw her meeting Bishop Geevarghese More Stephanos, who presented her with books authored by him.
Later in the day, Priyanka also met local residents in Chettiyalathur, who shared concerns over poor transport and lack of electricity facilities. Her interaction not only highlighted the region’s challenges but also reinforced her effort to connect with people beyond political speeches.
Local observers believe such gestures mixing empathy with action strengthen her bond with Wayanad, where she has been steadily building grassroots ties since her arrival last week.
