Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted a saffron flag at Ayodhya’s Ram Temple, emphasising devotion, cooperation and long-term national vision. Nearly 7,000 guests attended the historic ceremony.

Ayodhya witnessed a landmark moment as Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday hoisted a saffron flag atop the newly completed Ram Temple, nearly two years after overseeing the consecration of the Ram Lalla idol. The ceremony, held on Vivah Panchami, symbolising the divine union of Ram and Sita, featured a 10x20 feet flag depicting the Sun, Om, and the Kovidara tree—elements meant to reflect Lord Ram’s strength and virtue.

In his address, the Prime Minister said that Lord Ram’s teachings prioritise devotion over lineage and cooperation over power. He urged citizens to adopt a similar approach toward nation building. “Those who think only of the present ignore future generations… we must act with vision,” he remarked, calling for collective effort toward building a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Nearly 7,000 people, including RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, were in attendance. A significant number of guests were from socially and economically weaker sections, reflecting a message of inclusion.

During his visit, PM Modi offered prayers at various shrines within the temple complex, which now features 14 additional temples and expanded infrastructure across 2.7 acres. The event was heavily secured with large-scale deployment and live broadcast on Doordarshan.

The grand ceremony not only marks a religious milestone but also doubles as a symbolic statement of governance philosophy centred around cultural identity and long-term planning. The emphasis on including a diverse attendee base may indicate an attempt to position the temple as a unifying force. Strategically, the Prime Minister’s focus on future generations aligns with broader narratives of national progress ahead of the 2047 development vision.
