Nitish Kumar to Take Oath as Bihar CM for 10th Time, PM Modi to Attend Mega Ceremony

Nitish Kumar is set to be sworn in as Bihar’s Chief Minister for the 10th time on Thursday at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna. The ceremony, scheduled for 11:30 a.m., will see the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP president J.P. Nadda and chief ministers of various NDA-ruled states, highlighting the political significance of his return to office.

Massive crowds are expected, and authorities have deployed additional security personnel, surveillance systems and emergency teams to manage the event. On Wednesday, Kumar formally resigned and was re-elected as leader of the NDA legislature party, paving the way for his new term.

Several JD(U) and BJP leaders are likely to be inducted into the cabinet. His latest political manoeuvre reflects his long-standing image as a strategist capable of adapting to shifting alliances.

Analysis: Nitish Kumar’s comeback underscores stability within the NDA and consolidates the alliance’s control over Bihar. However, his frequent political shifts raise questions over long-term governance consistency. While supporters view his return as a pragmatic move for development, analysts note that public expectations around performance and stability will be higher than ever.

With Nitish once again at the helm, Bihar enters a new phase — led by one of India’s most experienced and politically agile leaders.
