Medaram Jatara Invitation Extended to KCR as People’s Government Reaches Out?
Telangana ministers personally invited former CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao to the Medaram Sammakka–Saralamma Jatara, handing over sacred Pattu Vastrams at his Erravelli residence.
Hyderabad: In a gesture highlighting continuity and tradition, representatives of the Telangana government on Thursday formally invited K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Leader of the Opposition, to attend the upcoming Sammakka–Saralamma Jatara at Medaram in Mulugu district.
Ministers Konda Surekha and Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka) visited Rao’s Erravelli farmhouse near Gajwel to personally hand over the official invitation along with the sacred Pattu Vastrams associated with the revered tribal festival. The former chief minister received the delegation warmly, exchanged pleasantries, and enquired about their well-being.
The interaction remained cordial, with traditional tambulam presented to the visiting ministers by Rao’s family, underscoring the cultural ethos of the biennial event that draws devotees from across Telangana and neighbouring states.
Analysis:
The outreach reflects the symbolic importance of Medaram Jatara beyond politics, positioning it as a shared cultural space. Such gestures can help lower political temperatures and reinforce the idea that major tribal and cultural events belong to the people rather than any single party. For local communities, bipartisan participation often adds dignity and wider visibility to age-old traditions.
