KTR Slams Congress Over Post-Poll Violence, Says BRS Will “Protect Every Worker
BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao condemns attacks on party workers after the Jubilee Hills bypoll and accuses Congress of winning through intimidation, bogus votes, and money power.
BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao has issued a sharp warning to the Congress after alleged attacks on BRS workers in the aftermath of the Jubilee Hills by-election. Visiting Rahmat Nagar on Saturday to meet injured activist Rakesh, KTR said the ruling party had unleashed “goondaism within 24 hours of the result,” and vowed that the BRS would safeguard its cadre.
He argued that during the BRS’ decade-long rule—even through multiple bypoll victories—the party “never laid a hand on Congress workers,” contrasting it with what he called the Congress’ “rowdy tactics” since its recent win. KTR went on to allege that the Congress secured the seat using bogus votes, intimidation, and cash distribution, adding that such behaviour would prompt voters to “teach the ruling party a lesson.”
Responding to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s comments on arrogance, KTR countered that the Congress’ celebrations revealed where the real hubris lay.
Earlier in the day, he met defeated BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha Gopinath and her family in Jubilee Hills, urging them to stay strong and reminding them that “victory and defeat are part of political life.” He praised their spirit and commitment throughout the campaign.
KTR also announced a meeting with local BRS leaders and workers on Tuesday to discuss the growing tensions in the constituency.
Analysis: KTR’s aggressive tone signals rising friction between the ruling Congress and the BRS as both parties brace for upcoming civic polls. For Jubilee Hills residents, the war of words underscores broader concerns about political violence and the need for de-escalation before local governance gets affected.
