BRS leader KTR accuses CM Revanth Reddy and Union Minister Kishan Reddy of political theatrics over Hyderabad Metro, alleging attempts to control Metro-linked assets worth thousands of crores.

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K. T. Rama Rao has launched a fresh attack on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, alleging that both leaders are misleading the public on the Hyderabad Metro Rail issue while concealing what he described as a major controversy involving Metro-linked properties.

Addressing party workers in Serilingampally, KTR claimed that valuable land parcels and assets associated with the Metro project were at the centre of a larger political and financial battle. He alleged that the state government was attempting to take over Metro-related assets while shifting the project's financial liabilities onto the people of Telangana.

The BRS leader further questioned the Centre’s commitment to Telangana, asking why Metro expansion proposals submitted during the previous BRS government had not received approval. He argued that several cities elsewhere were granted Metro projects while Hyderabad’s proposed extensions remained pending.

KTR also revived criticism over the Airport Metro project, alleging that the current government halted a key infrastructure initiative that could have eased traffic congestion and improved urban connectivity. According to him, the project would have significantly benefited daily commuters if it had continued as planned.

Political sparring over major infrastructure projects is likely to intensify as parties prepare for future electoral battles. For Hyderabad residents, however, the bigger concern remains the timely expansion of public transport and completion of pending Metro corridors. Regardless of political claims and counterclaims, citizens will ultimately judge governments by improvements in mobility, connectivity and urban infrastructure.
