CM Revanth Reddy announces plans to transform Kodangal into an international hub with new colleges, infrastructure upgrades, and railway connectivity to begin within nine months.

Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday announced that Kodangal is set for a major transformation, with plans underway to develop it as an international education and industrial hub. Speaking at a public meeting after laying foundation stones for multiple development projects, he highlighted that breakfast is already being provided to over 28,000 students in 312 government schools through Akshaya Patra’s centralised kitchen initiative.

Revanth Reddy said the Kodangal Lift Irrigation project would be completed within three years, noting that farmers have voluntarily given land for the initiative. He added that work to establish railway connectivity to Kodangal would begin within nine months, and proposals are in place to upgrade the Lagacharla industrial area to international standards. Cement industries are also slated for development in the region.

The chief minister further announced the establishment of medical, veterinary, agricultural, paramedical, nursing, engineering colleges, as well as integrated residential schools, junior and degree colleges, and a military school in Kodangal.

Analysis: With Kodangal being Revanth Reddy’s home constituency, these announcements reflect the government’s intent to position it as a showcase for future development models. If implemented effectively, the education-focused infrastructure could boost regional growth and attract academic and industrial investments. However, timely execution and sustained funding will be key to turning these plans into reality.
