Jain Community Leaders Meet Minister Azharuddin, Seek Welfare Measures in Telangana
A Jain Sewa Sangh delegation met Telangana Minister Mohammad Azharuddin in Hyderabad to discuss community welfare and request an official holiday for Jains.
A delegation representing the Jain community met Telangana’s Minister for Minority Welfare and Public Enterprises, Mohammad Azharuddin, at the State Secretariat in Hyderabad to discuss issues related to community welfare and development.
The group represented the Shri Jain Sewa Sangh, a long-standing organisation in Hyderabad that has been active for over six decades and is said to represent nearly 50,000 Jain families. The body is involved in social service, education and charitable activities across the city.
The delegation was led by Chairman Yogesh Jain, President Umesh Jain and Secretary Vimal Jain, along with several other members of the organisation. During the meeting, the leaders thanked the Telangana government for its support to minority communities and acknowledged a recent government notification allowing members of the Jain community to obtain caste certificates.
Community representatives also raised various welfare concerns and requested the government to consider declaring an official holiday for the Jain community. They informed the minister that a formal proposal regarding the holiday request would be submitted soon.
Responding to the delegation, Minister Azharuddin appreciated the Jain community’s social contributions and assured them that the government remains committed to addressing minority issues. He said the request for a holiday would be taken up with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy once the formal representation is received.
Meetings like these reflect the growing emphasis on dialogue between community organisations and policymakers. Such interactions can play a role in shaping inclusive policies while ensuring that smaller communities have a platform to raise their concerns.
