Israel-Iran-US Tensions Leave Telangana Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao Stranded in Dubai
Telangana Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao remains in Dubai after flight cancellations amid regional tensions, as his son-in-law recovers from a brain stroke.
Telangana Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao has been unable to return from Dubai as escalating tensions involving Israel, Iran and the United States disrupt air travel across West Asia.
The minister has been in Dubai since January 23 after his son-in-law, Kalyan Sekhar, suffered a brain stroke on January 22 while preparing to board a flight back to India. He was rushed from the airport to a nearby hospital, where he has been receiving treatment.
According to updates from doctors, surgery is not required at this stage, and he is expected to be shifted to a rehabilitation facility for further recovery. His condition is said to be stable.
Meanwhile, flight services to India have reportedly been suspended until the 6th of this month due to the prevailing geopolitical situation, delaying the minister’s return to Hyderabad. He is expected to travel back once operations resume.
The episode underscores how international conflicts can ripple into personal and political spheres, disrupting routine travel and affecting families far from the conflict zone. For Indian travellers in the region, monitoring airline advisories and embassy updates remains crucial during periods of heightened instability.
