Telangana CM Revanth Reddy faces criticism for silence on Almatti dam row. BRS demands urgent legal action as Karnataka moves to raise dam height despite SC stay.

The silence of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Karnataka’s move to raise the Almatti dam height has sparked outrage. Despite a clear Supreme Court stay, the Telangana government has not taken any strong legal step to protect the state’s share of Krishna River water. Former MP B Vinod Kumar and other BRS leaders have warned that if the dam height is increased, Telangana will face massive water losses.

While Karnataka has already cleared thousands of crores for land acquisition, Telangana’s leadership appears hesitant, raising doubts about whether party politics is stopping the state from defending its rights. Previous governments fought long legal battles to safeguard Krishna waters, but the current inaction risks undoing those efforts. If immediate contempt proceedings are not filed, Telangana could permanently lose its rightful share.
