IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Telangana, Thunderstorms Likely for Two Days
IMD Hyderabad warns of thunderstorms, lightning and squalls across Telangana on March 24–25, with temperatures already crossing 40°C in parts of the state.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad has issued a yellow alert across Telangana, warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and squalls over the next two days.
According to the forecast, adverse weather conditions are expected on March 24 and 25, affecting all districts of the state. The alert comes at a time when temperatures have already surged past 40°C in some areas, with Jayashankar district recording a high of 40.1°C.
In Hyderabad, temperatures touched 36.4°C in areas such as Bandlaguda, Bahadurpura and Golkonda. The city is expected to experience hazy mornings along with intermittent thunderstorms until March 25. Weather conditions are likely to remain similar across key zones including Charminar, Khairathabad, Kukatpally, LB Nagar, Secunderabad and Serilingampally.
Authorities have advised residents to stay alert and plan travel accordingly, particularly during periods of lightning and strong winds.
Weather experts note that such pre-summer thunderstorms are not unusual in Telangana but can disrupt daily routines and traffic. Carrying rain protection and avoiding open areas during lightning can help reduce risks during sudden weather changes.
