Hyderabad–Maharashtra Rail Links Strengthened with New Vande Bharat Trains
Indian Railways to launch two new Vande Bharat trains from Hyderabad to Pune and Secunderabad to Nanded, cutting travel time by up to 3 hours and boosting Telangana–Maharashtra connectivity.
Hyderabad and Secunderabad are set to receive two new Vande Bharat services, further tightening rail connectivity with Maharashtra. One train will connect Hyderabad to Pune, while the other will run between Secunderabad and Nanded.
These new semi-high-speed services are expected to cut journey times by up to three hours, offering faster and more comfortable travel options compared to existing services. This expansion marks the third Vande Bharat link from Hyderabad to Maharashtra, complementing the existing service to Nagpur.
Currently, Hyderabad hosts four Vande Bharat routes, covering Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Yeshvantpur, and Nagpur. With high occupancy rates across these trains, railways are also weighing the replacement of the Secunderabad–Pune Shatabdi Express with a Vande Bharat service.
For passengers, this shift means not just quicker journeys but also a step toward modernizing regional travel. However, unless fares and accessibility are carefully managed, the benefits of speed and comfort risk staying limited to a privileged section of commuters.
