GHMC launches a month-long mega sanitation drive in Hyderabad from December 29, targeting all 300 wards to improve waste clearance and hygiene.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is set to roll out an intensive, month-long sanitation अभियान in Hyderabad beginning December 29, 2025. The drive will span all 300 municipal wards, following the recent ward delimitation and merger of surrounding areas into the city limits.

Civic officials said the focus will be on clearing accumulated garbage, addressing pending sanitation backlogs, and raising overall hygiene standards across newly added and existing localities. As part of the initiative, GHMC has also reshuffled its internal workforce, transferring 60 engineers to strengthen waste management operations in expanded zones.

Analysis: The campaign signals an attempt to standardize sanitation services across old and newly merged wards, where residents often complain of uneven civic attention. Sustained monitoring beyond the one-month drive will be key to ensuring long-term cleanliness rather than short-term visibility.
