Telangana’s tourism sector records a breakthrough year in 2025 with ₹22,324 crore investments, global events, record-breaking festivals, and major infrastructure expansion.

Telangana’s tourism sector recorded a landmark year in 2025, securing investment commitments worth ₹22,324 crore and significantly expanding its global footprint, according to a year-end review released by the Telangana Tourism Department. Officials described the year as transformative, driven by policy reforms, large-scale infrastructure projects, and global branding initiatives.

Much of the investment momentum was attributed to the state’s Tourism Policy 2025–2030, with major contributions coming from events such as the Tourism Conclave 2025 and the Telangana Rising Global Summit. Together, these platforms attracted large commitments across convention, wellness, and cultural tourism segments, with the sector expected to generate nearly 90,000 jobs over time.

Cultural visibility also played a defining role. Hyderabad’s hosting of the Miss World event projected the state onto a global stage, while Bathukamma celebrations entered the record books with two Guinness World Records for a towering floral installation and a mass folk dance performance by women participants.

On the governance front, visitor safety and technology upgrades featured prominently. The introduction of a dedicated Tourist Police unit, along with digital tools such as a unified tourism portal and cashless travel cards, aimed to improve visitor experience. Infrastructure expansion continued alongside new water and eco-tourism projects, including developments at Hussain Sagar, Ananthagiri Hills, and Bhongir Fort.

Looking ahead, the department outlined an ambitious 2026 roadmap, focusing on heli-tourism circuits, premium destination wedding hubs, and a calendar of international festivals to sustain momentum.

Analysis: Telangana’s tourism push reflects a shift from episodic promotion to long-term destination building. The challenge now lies in balancing rapid expansion with environmental sustainability and consistent service quality across emerging destinations
