BRS leader Harish Rao blasted the Telangana government for six months of unpaid bills to Gurukul school suppliers, warning of risks to students’ welfare.

Hyderabad The Telangana government is facing sharp criticism from BRS MLA T Harish Rao over its failure to clear dues owed to suppliers of Gurukul schools. Addressing the issue on Sunday, September 28, Rao said that bills have remained unpaid for six months, pushing nearly 5,000 suppliers into debt and jeopardizing the welfare of thousands of students.

He accused the administration of showing “no concern” even as reports emerge of Gurukul students being hospitalized after consuming poor-quality food. “If payments are delayed indefinitely, how will suppliers provide safe and nutritious meals?” Rao asked, describing the situation as both “embarrassing” and “cruel.”

According to him, many suppliers have been forced to take loans just to stay afloat, leaving entire families trapped in financial distress. Despite repeated appeals, the government has not acted, raising serious questions about its priorities.

Analysis: The controversy highlights not just bureaucratic negligence but also a deeper failure in governance. When pending bills threaten the health and education of children, it reflects a breakdown in accountability. For Telangana families, this is more than a financial dispute—it’s about the safety and dignity of students who depend on these institutions.
