GOADH Foundation Launches ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ National Campaign Against Female Foeticide
GOADH Foundation Unveils Nationwide Campaign to Protect and Empower Daughters
New Delhi: The GOADH Foundation, led by its founder Dr. Mohammed Nizamuddin, launched a national campaign against female foeticide and for the promotion of equal rights for girls on December 2 at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar International Centre, Janpath, New Delhi. The event brought together Members of Parliament, social activists, academics, and NGO representatives from across the country.
Chief Guest Mamata Mohanta, Rajya Sabha MP and Chairperson of the Foundation, stressed the urgent need to safeguard daughters and uphold their dignity, opportunities, and security. “A daughter is not a burden but a blessing,” she said, describing the initiative as a nationwide mission to ensure education and equal rights for every girl.
The Foundation announced a series of outreach programmes, educational institution campaigns, and collaborative awareness drives with youth groups and social organisations. Distinguished participants included MPs Poongulati Sudhakar Reddy, P. Balaram Naik, Dhullu Mahto, and Kalicharan Singh, as well as Delhi University Director Prof. Geeta Singh and other dignitaries.
GOADH Foundation General Secretary Venkata K. Ganjam highlighted the responsibility shared by governments, NGOs, and communities in combating gender discrimination, adding that widespread collaboration could turn this initiative into a powerful national movement.
Despite laws prohibiting female foeticide, the practice persists in many regions of India due to entrenched social attitudes. By launching this campaign, the GOADH Foundation aims to shift the narrative from mere legal compliance to societal accountability. Experts note that sustained awareness—paired with community engagement—can foster real behavioural change. With the backing of policymakers and civil society, such initiatives have the potential to strengthen grassroots advocacy and ensure a safer, more equitable future for India’s daughters.
