Hyderabad: Hundreds of Ganesh idols were immersed at Hussain Sagar on Friday, a day before the centralised immersion, due to the upcoming lunar eclipse on September 7.

Long queues of trucks and trolleys carrying idols formed from morning, with GHMC and police deploying cranes at Tank Bund, Necklace Road, and NTR Gardens to manage the surge. Many pandal organisers advanced rituals to avoid the eclipse period.

Meanwhile, devotees thronged the Khairatabad Ganesh despite restrictions ahead of its scheduled immersion.
