Prof. Neha Singh of Galgotias University said her remarks about a robotic dog at the India AI Impact Summit were misunderstood and denied any claim of manufacturing it.

A presentation at the India AI Impact Summit in Delhi has stirred online discussion after a robotic dog displayed at an exhibition stall was alleged to have been projected as an in-house innovation of a private university in Noida.

Responding to the controversy, Professor Neha Singh of Galgotias University said her comments had been misconstrued. She acknowledged that her explanation at the event may not have been articulated clearly, attributing it to the fast-paced and enthusiastic atmosphere of the summit.

Singh emphasised that there was no intention to claim the robotic dog as a product manufactured by the university. Instead, she said the device was introduced to students as an example of advanced technology meant to inspire them to innovate independently. “We cannot claim that we made it,” she clarified, adding that the institution’s focus remains on equipping students with exposure to emerging AI tools.

The professor also addressed speculation that the university had been asked to vacate its stall at the expo. She stated that she had no information confirming such action and noted that representatives from the university were still present at the venue.

The episode highlights how quickly narratives can form around tech showcases, especially in high-profile AI forums. In an era where institutional branding and innovation claims carry weight, clear communication becomes as critical as the technology itself. For academic institutions, transparency about collaborations and sourced equipment may help prevent similar misunderstandings in the future.
