Mahabubnagar: A farmer from Vadyala village, Midjil mandal, attempted suicide inside a tahsildar’s office on Tuesday after a dispute over land.

The farmer, identified as Gajjala Krishnaiah, threatened to consume pesticide in front of officer Puli Raju, who appeared indifferent and continued looking at his phone. A video of the incident has gone viral, sparking outrage over the officer’s apathy.

Others present at the office intervened and prevented Krishnaiah from harming himself.

This is not an isolated case. Earlier in March, a farmer in Nalgonda tried to end his life inside a bank due to harassment over a loan repayment.
