Delhi security on alert after intelligence inputs warn of possible LeT plot targeting a temple near Red Fort; surveillance and patrols intensified.

Security has been tightened across parts of the national capital following intelligence inputs warning of a possible terror plot linked to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). According to official sources, religious locations particularly a temple in the Chandni Chowk area near the Red Fort have been identified as potential targets.

Agencies are examining reports suggesting the suspected plan may involve the use of an improvised explosive device (IED). The inputs also indicate the possibility of the group attempting to retaliate for a recent mosque blast reported in Islamabad on February 6. However, authorities have stated that verification of the intelligence is still underway.

In response, Delhi Police and central security agencies have stepped up surveillance across sensitive zones. Additional personnel have been deployed at key religious sites and high-footfall areas. CCTV monitoring has been intensified, vehicle checks strengthened, and bomb disposal units, dog squads and quick reaction teams placed on standby.

Officials stressed that the measures are precautionary and aimed at ensuring public safety. Residents and visitors have been advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities.

Security analysts note that Delhi, given its political and symbolic importance, frequently remains on the radar of extremist outfits. Preventive coordination between local police and central agencies is considered critical in averting potential threats before they materialise.
