Danam Nagender willing to resign if CM directs, as disqualification case remains pending
Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender says he is ready to step down if CM Revanth Reddy orders, even as his disqualification matter continues before the Supreme Court and Assembly Speaker.
Khairatabad legislator Danam Nagender said on Thursday that he would resign “without hesitation” if Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy instructed him to do so, though he clarified that no such request has been made so far. His comments came in response to questions surrounding the disqualification proceedings initiated after allegations of defection.
Nagender, who laid foundation stones for drainage and road works worth ₹1.40 crore in Himayatnagar and Narayanaguda, said he was fully prepared to argue his case before the Supreme Court, where the matter is currently under consideration. Reflecting on his political career, he noted that contesting elections was “in his blood,” reminding reporters that he had already fought 11 electoral battles.
He added that he has submitted his petition on the defection issue before the apex court, and the matter also remains pending with the Assembly Speaker. Of the 10 BRS MLAs facing disqualification pleas, both Danam Nagender and Kadiyam Srihari have sought additional time to respond to notices issued by the Speaker. Even after fresh notices were served last month, the two leaders again requested more time to file their replies.
Nagender also voiced firm backing for CM Revanth Reddy, saying Telangana would see accelerated development if the chief minister continued for the next decade. He asserted that the administration was fully prepared to host the upcoming Global Summit under the “Rising Telangana” initiative.
Nagender’s remarks signal both political confidence and a strategic attempt to stay aligned with the ruling leadership while legal proceedings continue. His public support for the chief minister may also be aimed at consolidating goodwill within the party amid uncertainty. For voters, the prolonged disqualification process highlights the need for clearer timelines and quicker resolution of defection-related disputes
