The Congress nominates Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Vem Narender Reddy for two Rajya Sabha seats from Telangana ahead of upcoming vacancies in April.

The Congress party has finalised its candidates for the two Rajya Sabha seats from Telangana that are set to fall vacant in April, naming senior leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi and political advisor Vem Narender Reddy.

Singhvi, who currently represents Telangana in the Upper House, has been renominated by the party leadership. Vem Narender Reddy, meanwhile, serves as an advisor to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and is making his entry into parliamentary politics through the nomination.

Soon after the announcement by the All India Congress Committee (AICC), Narender Reddy expressed gratitude to senior party leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, as well as the Telangana chief minister for reposing confidence in him.

The nominations come ahead of the Rajya Sabha vacancies scheduled for April. With Congress holding a comfortable position in the state Assembly, the party’s nominees are expected to secure the seats without major hurdles.

The selections also underline the Congress leadership’s strategy of balancing experienced parliamentary voices with loyal organisational figures from the state. Observers note that the Rajya Sabha representation could play a role in amplifying Telangana’s political priorities at the national level.
