CM Revanth Reddy Highlights Water Rights and Musi Revival Plan
Telangana CM Revanth Reddy sharpens Congress’s focus on Krishna water rights, irrigation projects, and Musi River rejuvenation during the Assembly’s winter session.
As the Winter Session of the Telangana Legislative Assembly unfolds, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has positioned the Congress government as an assertive force on irrigation and development issues. Amid intense debates on river water sharing, the Chief Minister has repeatedly underlined Telangana’s claim over Krishna waters, accusing the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi regime of accepting a reduced share and failing to defend the state’s long-term interests.
The Congress leadership has also doubled down on urban infrastructure, with Revanth Reddy strongly backing the Musi River rejuvenation project. Dismissing criticism circulating on social media, he described the initiative as central to Hyderabad’s transformation into a globally competitive city, linking river cleanup to economic growth, environmental health, and improved living conditions.
On the irrigation front, the government has signalled renewed focus on stalled projects such as the Palamuru–Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme and the Sadarmat barrage, which it says were delayed by administrative lapses earlier. The Chief Minister has also highlighted efforts at inter-state engagement to protect Telangana’s water interests, presenting the Congress as proactive rather than reactive on river disputes.
Politically, the ruling party appears buoyed by recent panchayat-level gains, which it views as a reflection of growing rural support. With municipal elections, including those linked to the GHMC, expected ahead, Congress leaders are projecting confidence about consolidating both urban and rural bases.
Analysis: By foregrounding water rights and visible urban projects, Revanth Reddy is shaping a governance narrative that blends regional pride with development delivery. How effectively these claims translate into on-ground outcomes may influence public perception as Telangana moves closer to the 2026 electoral cycle.
