BRS Walks Out of Telangana Assembly Over Pending Employee Arrears
BRS legislators staged a walkout in the Telangana Assembly after alleging the government failed to address pending arrears, CPS and pension dues of employees.
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) staged a walkout from the Telangana Assembly on Monday, intensifying pressure on the state government over unresolved dues to government employees.
Leading the protest, BRS deputy floor leader T. Harish Rao accused the government of failing to provide clear answers on pending arrears, including issues related to the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and retirement benefits. He criticised Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu for not directly addressing his queries during the budget session.
Rao alleged that instead of responding to current concerns, the minister focused on the previous government’s record. Questioning the approach, he said the ruling administration, having been in power for over two years, should take responsibility for resolving employee issues.
Highlighting the BRS tenure, Rao claimed that thousands of government employees who retired during that period received their benefits on time. He added that the absence of a concrete response from the government prompted the party to walk out of the House.
The episode reflects growing friction over employee welfare and fiscal priorities in the state. With government staff forming a significant voting bloc, delays in clearing dues could carry both administrative and political implications if not addressed promptly.
