BRS Has Compromised With BJP, Alleges TPCC Chief Mahesh Goud
Telangana Congress chief Mahesh Goud accused BRS of aligning with BJP to escape corruption probes, slamming KTR’s attack on Rahul Gandhi over MLA defections.
Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud on Saturday accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of “selling out” to the BJP, claiming the pink party had abandoned its principles for political survival.
Speaking at Gandhi Bhavan, Goud alleged that BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) was echoing BJP’s language in a bid to avoid central investigation into alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. “The KCR family looted Telangana like no one else in independent India. Rahul Gandhi’s family, on the other hand, made sacrifices for the country, even giving up the prime minister’s chair multiple times,” he said.
His remarks followed KTR’s swipe at Rahul Gandhi over “MLA Chori,” after several BRS legislators shifted to Congress in recent weeks. Goud countered by saying, “Even Modi’s own admirers don’t attack Rahul Gandhi. Rama Rao is doing so only to please Modi and seek what I call ‘Modi Moksha’.”
The TPCC chief also referred to internal rifts in BRS, pointing to the recent suspension of former MLC K. Kavitha, KTR’s sister. According to him, this turbulence reflects growing insecurity in the party ranks.
Meanwhile, the Congress government’s decision to hand over the Kaleshwaram probe to the CBI has triggered sharp reactions from BRS. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy defended the move in the Assembly, saying central oversight was essential since multiple states and agencies were involved.
Goud’s aggressive attack signals that the Congress intends to keep up pressure on BRS by framing it as an ally of BJP a strategy aimed at consolidating anti-BJP voters ahead of 2026.
