BRS Exit the Assembly to Dodge Debate on Krishna Water and Palamuru Projects,
Telangana Minister Jupally Krishna Rao says BRS leaders walked out of the Assembly to avoid debate on Krishna water sharing and the Palamuru irrigation project.
Telangana Minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Tuesday said the walkout by Bharat Rashtra Samithi leaders from the Legislative Assembly was an attempt to avoid an imminent discussion on the Krishna river water allocation and the Palamuru irrigation project.
Responding to the Opposition’s move, the minister alleged that the previous BRS government had failed both in securing Telangana’s rightful share of Krishna waters and in managing expenditure on irrigation initiatives. He claimed that critical projects, including Palamuru, were neglected, leaving the party with little ground to defend its record during Assembly debates.
According to Jupally Krishna Rao, the timing of the walkout coincided with key decisions expected on river water sharing, suggesting that the Opposition was unwilling to face scrutiny on these issues inside the House.
Analysis: Irrigation remains a politically sensitive subject in Telangana, directly tied to farmer livelihoods and regional development. Avoiding legislative debate on such matters could weaken public confidence and intensify demands for greater transparency
