BRS launches ‘Congress Debt Card’ in Telangana, accusing the Revanth Reddy-led government of betraying promises on farmers, jobs, and welfare schemes.

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has unveiled a new offensive against the ruling Congress government in Telangana. Party working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Saturday rolled out the ‘Congress Debt Card’ initiative, describing it as a people’s movement to remind citizens of every promise that the government has failed to deliver.

KTR argued that the so-called “guarantee card” of Congress was nothing more than an election stunt. “Farmers were promised ₹15,000 per acre, a ₹2 lakh loan waiver, and ₹500 per quintal of paddy support—but none of these have been honored,” he said. He also pointed out unfulfilled pledges to tenant farmers, agricultural workers, unemployed youth, women, and disabled citizens. According to him, these undelivered commitments now form a “ledger of debts” Congress owes to the people.

He went further, accusing Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka of signing “blank bonds” with voters—promises that have turned worthless in practice. By invoking former CM K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s warning that people would suffer if misled, KTR positioned the campaign as a direct counter to the Congress narrative.

Analysis The ‘Debt Card’ is a sharp political tool designed to strike where it hurts—public trust. While some might see it as typical opposition rhetoric, the frustration over unkept promises in Telangana is real. For citizens, this clash is a reminder to scrutinize every “guarantee” before elections and demand transparency on delivery, not just promises on paper.
