Bandi Sanjay Slams Telangana Govt Over Fee Dues, Announces ‘Chalo Hyderabad’ Stir

Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar has accused the Telangana government of ignoring massive fee reimbursement arrears and using vigilance raids to intimidate private colleges. Speaking after a meeting with private college representatives at his Hyderabad residence on Thursday, Sanjay announced a large-scale “Chalo Hyderabad” protest scheduled for the first week of November.

He said private educational institutions across the state were struggling to pay staff due to nearly ₹10,000 crore in pending dues under the government’s reimbursement scheme. “Around 15 lakh students depend on this scheme, yet the administration continues to neglect it,” he remarked, warning that the BJP would intensify its agitation until the arrears are cleared.

The protest comes amid mounting tension between private college managements and the state over delayed payments. Sanjay said he had already discussed the issue with BJP state president N Ramchander Rao and that a detailed action plan would be announced soon.

Analysis: The BJP’s decision to take the fee reimbursement issue to the streets signals a clear attempt to mobilize students, parents, and educators — a constituency with growing frustration over administrative delays. If the dues remain unsettled, the crisis could impact academic continuity and private sector employment in education. Politically, this campaign allows the BJP to project itself as a voice for the middle class and youth in Telangana’s changing political landscape.
