BJP Shifting Its Post-Poll Focus to Telangana and Karnataka,
The Bharatiya Janata Party is preparing to turn its organisational attention towards Telangana and Karnataka after the conclusion of Assembly elections in key states, Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar said on Wednesday. Addressing party workers in Karimnagar, he asserted that the BJP aims to dislodge the Congress governments in both states as part of its broader political strategy.
Speaking at a preparatory meeting ahead of the proposed municipal elections in Telangana, Sanjay Kumar expressed confidence that the BJP would emerge victorious in the state when Assembly polls are held in 2028. He claimed that the Congress has lost ground in Telangana and predicted that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi would cease to be a major political force by then.
The Union Minister said the party’s central leadership would intensify its focus on Telangana and Karnataka once elections in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh are over. He urged BJP cadres to strengthen grassroots mobilisation, particularly in urban local body polls, the schedule for which is yet to be announced by the State Election Commission.
Analysis: The remarks signal BJP’s intent to build momentum well ahead of the 2028 Assembly elections by leveraging municipal contests as a testing ground. For voters, upcoming local body polls may offer an early indication of shifting political equations in the state.
