BJP Leader Nazia Khan Confronts Lenskart Store Over Religious Symbol Row
BJP’s Nazia Khan storms a Mumbai Lenskart outlet amid controversy over religious symbols; company clarifies policy allows all faith expressions.
A controversy erupted in Mumbai after BJP Minority Morcha leader Nazia Elahi Khan confronted staff at a Lenskart outlet over allegations that employees were being restricted from wearing certain religious symbols.
In a video that surfaced online, Khan is seen entering the store and questioning the manager about the reported guidelines. She accused the management of bias and interacted with employees, asking them about their practices. During the exchange, she applied tilak on some staff members and raised slogans before leaving the premises.
The store manager, identified in the video, denied the allegations and maintained that no such restrictions were being imposed on employees.
The incident comes days after social media posts claimed that the company had limited the use of certain religious identifiers while allowing others. Responding to the backlash, Lenskart issued a clarification stating that its policy permits all forms of religious and cultural expression, including tilak, sindoor, hijab, turban and other symbols.
The episode has sparked debate around workplace policies and religious expression in India. While companies aim to maintain uniform standards, clarity and communication are essential to prevent misunderstandings that can quickly escalate into public controversies.
