Bandi Sanjay Backs SIT Move in Phone Tapping Case, Seeks Faster Probe
Union Minister Bandi Sanjay supports SIT action in Telangana phone tapping case, urging a swift and independent probe into alleged surveillance involving KCR and KTR.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar has welcomed reports that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) may issue notices to former Telangana chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and ex-IT minister K. T. Rama Rao in the alleged phone tapping case. He called for the inquiry to be sped up so that those responsible are clearly identified.
In a statement released on December 23, Sanjay questioned whether the probe would stop at issuing notices or move towards a full-scale investigation to uncover the alleged conspiracy. He criticised delays in the case, remarking that the matter has lingered for months without visible progress.
The Union Minister stressed that investigators must be allowed to function independently, without political pressure. He also urged authorities to thoroughly examine claims that phone tapping was misused for extortion and surveillance of political leaders and industrialists.
Sanjay reiterated his allegation that several senior leaders, including himself, were subjected to illegal surveillance, leading to personal and political fallout. He further claimed that even members of the former chief minister’s family were not spared.
The renewed push for action highlights growing political pressure around the phone tapping allegations, which have remained unresolved for long. A transparent and time-bound investigation could help restore public trust, while prolonged delays risk deepening political polarisation in Telangana.
