Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav questions BJP government on where GST collections over the last eight years have gone, calling it a “jumlakosh” of promises

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has sharply criticized the BJP government, raising doubts over how eight years of GST collections have been used.

In a late-night post, Yadav listed sarcastic options — from cash delivery at homes to election-time handouts — and questioned whether the money would ever benefit ordinary citizens. He also mocked the government’s “jumlakosh,” or fund of unfulfilled promises.

His remarks came after the GST Council decided to reduce tax rates on goods and services starting September 22, the first day of Navratri.

Analysts say such pointed attacks could intensify the debate on GST’s impact ahead of upcoming polls, especially as the opposition tries to link tax policies with everyday struggles of the public.
